Goals:

  • Learn anatomy and function of the heart and cardiovascular system
  • Identify why physical activity is important to cardiovascular health


Classroom Activities:

  • Identify different kinds of “pumps”
  • Compare the rooms of a house to the those of a heart
  • Follow a red blood cell (RBC) around the body
  • Play a Velcro game of oxygen and carbon dioxide backpacks
  • “Operation Time” - removal of the heart


Homework:

  • Complete daily physical activity calendars in classroom with teacher
  • Engage family members in the learning process
